Last night, we were pleased to present a free information night. The room was full of parents and a few teenagers looking for information on Transitioning to Adult Services. Six presenters provided a wealth of information on options for education, work and social day options, as well as residential services. Thank you all our presenters for taking the time to provide information and answer many questions!
Community Living Brandon’s own Debby Dandy challenged parents to imagine an inclusive post-secondary experience for their children during her presentation of the Inclusive Post-Secondary Education (IPSE) program currently being piloted at Brandon University. She shared that six provinces already have robust inclusive college and university programs up and running, and that in Alberta there are 19 campuses providing inclusive education experiences. As Debby said last night, “Brandon has a university and a college in the community. What better place to begin to create inclusive post-secondary experiences in the province?”
Lots of food for thought.
